Depeche Mode – Heaven

The electronic pop band Depeche Mode is back with their newly released song “Heaven” from their new album Delta Machine which will be released in March 26, 2013.

A break from their traditional electronic sound, Heaven has a hypnotic sound to it with mixes of 50′s blues rock thrown in. Dave Gahan’s vocals is in top form as always. The video itself has some great images that resemble a lost dream.

Depeche Mode is scheduled to be touring with their fist stop in Tel Aviv on May 7, 2013. Their 34 shows will take them to Europe and North America, but as of yet no tour dates have been released.

Let’s hope they have a stop in Vancouver as I would love to see them live. I’ve seen them in concert before back in the 80′s for their Black Celebration tour and they were amazing.

Sexy and I Know It – LMFAO

The other night while going through my VEVO App on my iPad, I came across one of the funniest and catchy videos I’ve seen in some time – Sexy and I Know It by LMFAO. DJ Redfoo and SkyBlu, both from Los Angeles formed the group back in 2006 and refer to their sound as “party rock”. They also happen to be son and grandson, respectfully, of Motown founder Berry Gordy.

The video pokes fun at those who just might think they are sexier than anyone else. Be warned the video shows a bit more bumping and speedo grinding than you might want to see, but the tune sure is catchy.

Some might think of Right Said Fred’s 80′s hit of I’m Too Sexy as comparison.

Ready 2 Go – Martin Solveig

I love discovering new music, granted the music might not always been new to most, but it’s new to me. Recently while I was working in the office this past Saturday morning I ran into one such song – Ready 2 Go by Martin Solveign – that resonated with me the whole day and kept me going.  This song is also a great way to start your Monday and work week I think.

Martin Solveig has recently released his new CD – SMASH where this song is featured.

This song is a cross between a mash mob and music video. I think this would make a cool mash mob one day too. Hmmm maybe during the Grey Cup in Vancouver this year? :)

Enjoy and happy Monday everyone!

FreeFallin' – Zoe Badwi

Recently a song has been coming up on my iPod and it usually makes me want to just get up and dance. This morning that same song started off my day – FreeFallin’ by Zoë Balwi.

Zoë Badwi is from Australia and has recently released her self titled CD in Australia. Though I’m not familiar with her other songs, I’m sure one of them will find its way onto my iPod soon enough.

Example – Kickstarts

Every so often a tune pops into my iPod that I either forgot I had, or never new I had. Last night while traveling back from our camping trip one such song popped into my iPod, Kickstarts by Example. Though the song was released over a year ago, it was just the perfect song to get us grooving and waving our hands as we drove down the Sea-to-Sky highway back home.

There is an 80′s vibe to it and that is probably why I love it so much. I dare you to listen to the song and not get you your feet moving or your body swaying in someway. I’ll have to pick up some more of his music in the coming days as I’m sure the rest will have me moving the same way.

Unfortunately the official video on YouTube has the embedded feature disabled (why do artists do this?!). So you can click on the link above to see the official video or see the unofficial video below from the Ministry of Sounds – Annual 2011 CD featuring the Afrojack Remix.

Pitbull – Rain Over Me

I have to admit, I’m on a Latin music craze lately. I’ve not been a huge fan of Pitbull, but I like that he can incorporate himself with other Latin stars lately and he’s pretty strong on his own with some great catchy songs under his belt.

Recently he collaborated with Marc Anthony (soon to be Jennifer Lopez’s ex) for their song called Rain Over Me. What I find interesting in most of the Latin music videos I’ve seen, the men are always in some kind of suit. Almost has that Scarface type feel :)

Pitbull is currently touring and hit Vancouver on July 15th at the PNE (how did I miss it?)

Ricky Martin – Frio

I’ve been adding a lot of Latin music onto my iPod lately. I don’t know if has anything to do with my few recent trips to Buenos Aires, Russ’ Spanish classes or just that I’m finally realizing how good some of it really is.

Recently I added Ricky Martin’s new album Musica + Almos + Sexo (MAS) to my collection. There are some great tunes, but his recent single Frio I just can’t get enough. It’s been on my high rotation lately. The video below was shot also in Buenos Aires Argentina and brings back memories for me on trip back home this past January.

It’s good to see he’s on tour again, alas there are no Vancouver dates and he is currently off to launch a full Latin America tour.

Coldplay – Every Teardrop is a Waterfall

Today while watching Much Music (yeah it’s been awhile since I’ve last tuned in), I ran into the new song by Coldplay – Every Teardrop is a Waterfall. I’m not a huge fan of the group, but this song caught my attention and the visuals of the video made me enjoy it more.

I have to admit the guys seem to be having a great time in the video and the wonderful colours, followed by the great harmony and infectious beat make this a must have for my collection.
