Happy Canada Day

143 years ago today, Canada became a country with the uniting the Province of Canada (Ontario and Quebec), with Nova Scotia and New Brunswick with the enactment of the British North America Act on 1867 (now known as the Constitution Act of 1867).

I’m very proud to be a Canadian. Canada has been my home for most of my life. My family immigrated to Canada back in 1974 when I was 5 years old, and the country has welcomed us as it has many other immigrants throughout its wonderful 143 years.  This country has shown us what it means to be truly welcoming and has shown us what it means to be a Canadian.

I think the biggest show of Canadian Pride I saw was when Vancouver hosted the Winter Olympics. The flood of people wearing red and white was truly outstanding and I was proud to show my Canadian colours as well.

So today I say, thank you Canada for being who you are, for being the country that I call home, and for being so damn sexy at 143 years old!

Happy Canada Day Everyone!
