Now that the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games are officially over, the Union Gospel Mission (UGM) wants you to continue the party and great Olympic feeling to the Orange Day Campaign.
Leah Gregg, Community Relations Coordinator says, “Orange Day started because we’ve always given out oranges at our annual Easter dinner. Yeah, we’d serve over 3,000 scrumptious ham dinners to our hungry, hurting, homeless guests, and at the end of it, everybody gets an orange. It’s like saying: take hope home with you. You can start over. You can get off the street. You can reconnect with your family. You can peel back your addictions and discover a fresh life awaiting through recovery. We have programs that can help you achieve all of these things.”
Orange Day is about experiencing all the free and entertaining aspects of our fair city and sharing them with everyone. Instead of heading out for dinner, or a night out on the town, think about donating that would be expense to the campaign.
During the week long campaign starting on March 27th, tell your stories online by tweeting with the hashtag #orangeday and blog about your fun.
You can read more about the campaign on UGM’s Facebook Page or follow along on Twitter; @UGM.

Gus, you’re the bomb! Thanks for talking about Orange Day — it’s gonna be amazing.
(I should add that UGM = Union Gospel Mission, not United)
OOOPs! My bad Kevan. I’ve corrected that.
